As a BAFTA-nominated short film producer, children’s author, and theatre creator, Refat Yasmeen uses creative media to preserve erased histories, promote cultural pride, and engage audiences of all ages.

Writer and producer of The River That Remembers, a stage production blending memory, grief, and magical realism to tell stories of the Jammu diaspora. The play incorporates oral histories, spiritual landscapes, and intergenerational dialogue.

Through publishing house Pahari Publishing and community projects, she promotes inclusive, accessible storytelling — ensuring that marginalised voices are not only heard but celebrated.
